Objectives of this activity:
By the end of this session, participants will have:
learned basics of public narratives with three parts (self, us, now or ako, tayo, hamon sa atin ngayon)
delivered a 4-minute public narrative speech in front of the small group
interpreted one's own experience of sharing one's public narrative
Public Narratives are defined as stories that we share intentionally with our publics for the purpose of mobilizing people towards action. It is an exercise of leadership aimed towards motivating others to join you in action on behalf of a shared purpose. (Marshall Ganz)
Part 1 - Self/Kwento Ko
This part allows speaker to share a difficult choice you faced in your life. It communicates to your audience some of your values.
Part 2 - Us/Kwento Natin
Part 2 is designed by sharing shared experiences with the audience. What common experiences or identities do you have with your audience? This helps the speaker establish a basis of shared identify and motivation with the audience.
Part 3 - Now/Hamon sa atin Ngayon
The Story of Now is the 3rd part and describes the shared challenge facing the audience and the speaker at the present, and how urgent action is needed.
